Don’t Let Fear Stop You from Your Destiny

By Leticia A. Mathis, MPA

FEAR!!! We all have it, some of us overcome it and some do not. However, I am here to tell you not to let fear stop you from your destiny. In Matthew 25:14-30 Jesus gives a parable about the three men who were given gold. Each was given a number of bags according to their ABILITY. God has given us all talents and abilities; however,  it is up to us to discover those talents and abilities and not be intimidated by fear!! See the one guy who buried his gold did not tap into his talents or abilities, he was afraid. In Matt 25:18 it says, “But the man who had received one bag went off, dug a hole in the ground and hid his master’s money”; however, the one that was given five bags of gold knew what he was able to do with it and in Chapter 20 when Jesus came back he said, “‘Master, you entrusted me with five bags of gold. See, I have gained five more’”. God blesses those who learn and use their talents and abilities.

Every one of us has a season and God is calling you to do something, and only you know what it is, but God is saying move NOW! He’s asking you to dig deeper and find the hidden treasures that he has stored on the inside of you. Your season is now but are you listening? Are you seeking His voice in that quiet place? Let me tell you, I am a seeker of God’s voice and when He tells me to move I do. I knew I was moving into a new season when 2015 started; I heard that small quiet voice deep in my soul. Here’s the thing, FEAR grasped me for about six months and kept telling me that I could not step out on my own and have my own business, it kept telling me that I did not know anything about what I was doing, fear told me that if I stepped out I would lose everything I worked so hard for; my house, my car, my retirement, and my security. But God is faithful and patient and I made a decision to step into my purpose instead of allowing fear to hold me hostage! Trust me when I tell you that once YOU make a DECISION to follow what God is telling you He will show up and empower you and show you the talents and abilities that HE has hidden inside of you for this time and this season.

Timing and positioning is everything. If God called you too it then He has already given you what you need to succeed!! Whatever it is DO IT AFRAID!! Do not let fear stop you from your destiny. This time is not just for you but it is for the building of God’s Kingdom. What you decide to do today will impact the lives of those around you and those that God will place in your path. Do not let this season pass you by!

The Parable of the Talents
14 “For the kingdom of heaven is like a man traveling to a far country, who called his own servants and delivered his goods to them. 15 And to one he gave five talents, to another two, and to another one, to each according to his own ability; and immediately he went on a journey. 16 Then he who had received the five talents went and traded with them, and made another five talents. 17 And likewise he who had received two gained two more also. 18 But he who had received one went and dug in the ground, and hid his lord’s money. 19 After a long time the lord of those servants came and settled accounts with them.

20 “So he who had received five talents came and brought five other talents, saying, ‘Lord, you delivered to me five talents; look, I have gained five more talents besides them.’ 21 His lord said to him, ‘Well done, good and faithful servant; you were faithful over a few things, I will make you ruler over many things. Enter into the joy of your lord.’ 22 He also who had received two talents came and said, ‘Lord, you delivered to me two talents; look, I have gained two more talents besides them.’ 23 His lord said to him, ‘Well done, good and faithful servant; you have been faithful over a few things, I will make you ruler over many things. Enter into the joy of your lord.’

24 “Then he who had received the one talent came and said, ‘Lord, I knew you to be a hard man, reaping where you have not sown, and gathering where you have not scattered seed. 25 And I was afraid, and went and hid your talent in the ground. Look, there you have what is yours.’

26 “But his lord answered and said to him, ‘You wicked and lazy servant, you knew that I reap where I have not sown, and gather where I have not scattered seed. 27 So you ought to have deposited my money with the bankers, and at my coming I would have received back my own with interest. 28 Therefore take the talent from him, and give it to him who has ten talents.

29 ‘For to everyone who has, more will be given, and he will have abundance; but from him who does not have, even what he has will be taken away. 30 And cast the unprofitable servant into the outer darkness. There will be weeping and gnashing of teeth.’
